MCKINNEY, Texas—On February 27, Weitzman will join Kroger on the official groundbreaking for a new Kroger Marketplace-anchored retail destination, Custer Frontier Marketplace. The center, located at the southeast corner of Custer Road and Frontier Parkway, is strategically located in a growth corridor where the fast-growing communities of McKinney, Celina and Prosper intersect.
The Kroger Marketplace is a 99,000-square-foot store that also features a Kroger fuel station. In addition to the anchor, the center will feature 54,000 square feet of small-shop and freestanding retail space in multiple buildings as well as pad sites designed for a neighborhood-focused mix of shops, dining, services, medical and beauty users.
All told, Custer Frontier Marketplace will total approximately 170,000 square feet upon completion.
Weitzman is managing the development of Custer Frontier Marketplace under the direction of David Palmer, executive vice president of development with Weitzman. Michelle Caplan and Maggie Hansen with Weitzman handle leasing for the center.
Custer Frontier Marketplace will represent a key retail destination to the trade area, one of the most affluent and fastest-growing areas in Texas. With a three-mile radius of the center, the population reports 33,575 residents in 10,733 households with an average household income of $251,797. With a five-mile radius of the center, the population now totals 129,335 residents in 40,839 households with an average household income of $214,729.
Custer Frontier Marketplace represents the latest project Weitzman has worked on with Kroger. Others include the recently completed Kroger Marketplace-anchored Bonds Ranch Marketplace in Fort Worth, as well as Castle Hills Marketplace in Lewisville and the Kroger Signature-anchored centers Windhaven Plaza and Legacy Drive Village in Plano. Weitzman and Kroger also have worked together on several centers in the Houston market, the most recent being the Kroger Marketplace-anchored Woodshore Marketplace in Clute.
