LIVE OAK (SAN ANTONIO), Texas—One of the strongest super-regional retail intersections in Texas just got even stronger with the addition of a key experiential anchor that just opened its only San Antonio-area location at Live Oak Town Center.
The new anchor, DICK’S House of Sport, opened this October and joins IKEA and Floor & Décor as an anchor at Live Oak Town Center, a mixed-use regional-draw retail, entertainment and hospitality project being built in phases on 111 acres at the southwest quadrant of IH-35 and Loop 1604.
The 100,000-plus-square-foot store has the best in sports product, service and experiences with a rock-climbing wall, sport cage, golf bays and a multi-use track and field

DICK'S House of Sport offers the best styles from top brands in apparel, cleats, footwear, performance, gear, accessories and equipment, along with in-store experiences including a climbing wall, outdoor field, multiple golf bays with TrackManTM simulators, and a multi-sport cage that can be used to play a variety of sports including baseball, softball, lacrosse and soccer. The interactive features give customers an opportunity to try product while measuring and tracking their performance. DICK’S House of Sport stores also focus on deep integration with the local community through partnerships and events.
Michael Schoenbrun, city partner for Weitzman in San Antonio who is directing the development of Live Oak Town Center, noted the interactive nature of the sporting goods location makes it an ideal concept. “This store redefines sporting goods retailing for San Antonio. More than a store, it’s a destination. The stores not only provide sporting goods, they provide athletes of all fitness levels a complete experience in an innovative setting.”

The experiential anchor joins the center’s main anchor, IKEA, which operates an approximately 300,000-square-foot store, its only South Texas location.
Additionally, anchor Floor & Décor, a leading specialty retailer of hard surface flooring that offeres the broadest in-stock selection of tile, wood, stone, related tools and flooring accessories at everyday low prices, operates a 79,681-square-foot on a 6.5-acre site at Live Oak Town Center. Restaurants and food concepts at Live Oak Town Center include LongHorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Twin Peaks, B.J.’s Restaurant and Brewhouse and Black Rifle Coffee Company.
Live Oak Town Center, being developed in phases, plans additional anchor, junior anchor, shop and restaurant concepts.
Live Oak Town Center will total more than 800,000 square feet upon completion and has access and visibility to the entire region as it sits at one of the strongest and busiest retail and commercial intersections in South Texas. The area already is a draw for shoppers in the region thanks to its concentration of retail anchors like Target, Home Depot, Regal Cinemas, Costco and many more.
Within a five-mile radius of Live Oak Town Center, the population totals more than 224,000 residents in approximately 85,000 households with an average household income of more than $98,000.
